A tripcode is a kind of password you can add to your namefag handle as a way to prevent others from posing as you.
[edit] How to use
- Come up with clever password (for example: poop)
- Add the number sign (#) plus your password to your name when you post (example: Namefag#poop)
- ?????
- Profit!
In the above example Namefag's password is encrypted into a 10-letter phrase (poop encrypts to W48S2eY4nU). It appears in posts as the name followed by tilda (~) followed by the 10-letter phrase (Namefag~W48S2eY4nU). It is apparently very difficult to convert this 10-letter phrase back into your password thus making it a fairly effective means to uniquely identify yourself yet remain anonymous.
